Off Season Batting Shed Information
All players must be registered with the league for the upcoming season to participate.
Requirements for Coaches:
- Be registered with the league
- Have background check (for upcoming season) completed and turned in
- Have SafeSport (for upcoming season) completed and turned in
- Paid the batting shed fee of $100
- Turn in roster of coaches and players utilizing the batting shed
How to Register for the Batting Shed
Coaches will need to create a player account for themselves in their current league account and sign up for the batting shed under their own player account.
How to Book Time Slots for the Batting Shed
Send all required documents (listed above) to your division level commissioner. Once they have verified all information, they will send you the link to the Google Doc Spreadsheet. Teams can register for one slot per week. Coaches my sign up for additional slots if it is the day-of and the shed is unreserved.
How to Complete Coach Requirements for the Season
Requirements to Register as a Coach:
- Signup on the RC Junior Olympic USA (RCJOUSA) Softball league website (www.rapidcitygirlsfastpitch.com)
- Complete background check, SafeSport and ACE (only if entering tournaments) on the USA Softball of SD website (www.usasoftballofsouthdakota.com).
- This will also be the site for coaches to register as coaches and register their teams with USA softball.
- PLAYERS NEED TO REGISTER FOR THE LEAGUE ON THE LEAGUE WEBSITE. YOU WILL ONLY NEED TO REGISTER YOUR TEAM ON THE USA SOFTBALL OF SD WEBSITE FOR TOURNAMENTS AND RANKINGS. TO AVOID DUPLICATE CHARGES, YOU NEED TO REGISTER FOR THE LEAGUE FIRST.
Coach Insurance Information
- Coaches will be able to purchase insurance for themselves as a coach for $20 per year. USA Softball insurance is purchased by the RCJOUSA league for every player that has completed the registration process. This will cover the player for all sanctioned events, not just RCJOUSA league. Reach out to your commissioners for more details. DO NOT buy insurance on the USA Softball of SD site if you are registering for the league, the league already purchases insurance through USA Softball of SD for every player that has completed the registration process for the league.
How to Navigate the USA Softball of South Dakota Website
All the individual and team registrations for 2026 for USA Softball will now be going through the USA Softball of South Dakota website. https://usasoftballofsouthdakota.com/pages/home
- You do not need to create a team or add players on the USA Softball of SD website to play in RCJOUSA league. This option is for travel teams and teams that want to be in the ranking system in the USA Softball system

How to get your USA Softball Background Check
- Log into or create your account on usasoftballsouthdakota.com
- Click on the "dashboard" tab
- Click on "my family" tab
- Go to the Compliance window and open Background Check
- Click “Get Background Check” button
- Complete payment.
- Enter personal info via the secure NCSI link
- Compliance status updates automatically once results are in
How to get your SafeSport Certificate(s) & ACE
SafeSport Signup links are now visible on the Compliance screen (on www.usasoftball.com) for all adults, regardless of coaching status. ACE is also active on that page.
Creating a Team
1. Go to the Teams page and click Create a Team.
2. Fill out team information.
3. In Season drop-down:
i. Select League Team if the team participates in league play (even if also in tournaments).
ii. Select Tournament Team if tournament-only.
4. In Class drop-down, select the appropriate classification.
5. Click Create a Team.
Note: Team registration fees are still paid directly to the league or tournament.
Building a Roster
Invite a new player:
1. Go to Teams > My Teams.
2. Click the yellow roster button for your team.
3. Click Invite Players.
4. Enter the player’s first and last name, plus email.
5. Click Send Invite.
Invite an existing player
1. Go to Dashboard > My Teams.
2. Open the roster.
3. Click Invite Players and search by state and name.
4. Click Invite if found.
Invite Former Players
1. Go to Teams > My Teams.
2. Click the yellow roster button for your team.
3. Click Your Players tab.
4. You will see a list of players who have played for your team in the past.
5. Click the Invite icon on the right.
Using the roster password
1. Go to Dashboard > My Teams.
2. Find the roster password button and share it with players.
Joining a League or Tournament
1. Log in and navigate to the appropriate Leagues or Tournaments page.
2. Find your division and click the enter button.
3. Select your team, system will automatically select the team if you have only one fitting team.
4. Choose the payment option set by the league/tournament.
5. Click Enter to complete.
Finding Tournaments for the Team (Tournaments Teams Only)
1. Go to your team's page and click the "Fill My Schedule" tab.
2. You will see all the future weekends of the entire season.
3. Click on the weekend you want to fill. You will see all the tournaments for that weekend sorted by distance.
4. Click on the tournament and pick the division you want to enter.
Player
Joining a Roster via Email Invite
1. Check email for invite from [email protected].
2. Click the link to accept.
3. Log in or create an account and verify your email.
4. Go to Dashboard > My Family.
5. Add your child to your family if you haven't already.
6. Click Join a Team, enter roster password, and confirm.
Joining with Roster Password Only
1. Log in or create an account, verify your email.
2. Go to Dashboard > My Family.
3. Add your child to your family if you haven't already.
4. Click Join a Team, enter roster password, and confirm.
Parent/Guardian
Adding a Minor Player
1. Log in and go to Dashboard.
2. Click Add Family Member > Add Child.
3. Fill out information and save.
4. Players 12 & under will have only their first name and last initial displayed publicly.
Joining a Minor to a Team
1. Log in, go to Dashboard > My Family.
2. Select your child, click Join a Team.
3. Enter roster password, complete info, accept waiver, and join.
4. Note: Once a player turns 18, they can create their own RegisterPlay account.
Additional Updates
- Clubs can now store a credit card on file, add coaches, and pay for their coaches’ background checks.
- Individual Team version of storing a credit card on file will be available soon.
- Umpire self-registration is in testing with positive results. More details coming soon!
